magic ink magazine was originally a surf magazine called magic wave we were only appeared as a bonus article only 4-8 pages and we named it magic-ink article we wrote about tattoo shop around kuta beach

we finally published our first magazine with our own concept with whole tattoo concept, not as a surf magazine because not only surfers who have a tattoo musicians also have a tattoo any normal people could have a tattoo office workers could have a tattoo skaters could have a tattoo students could have a tattoo anyone could have a tattoo

rather than they show it only in social media it would be better if it is shown as print it's cooler at first i just met up with a friend whose a gallery, an art space i thought it would be a good thing if i help him there but it turns out that i enjoyed it here much because it is more relaxing here the traditional values are good

the traditional concepts that i was looking for are here and so i moved here and also the income are better here my tattoo style at first because of my origin tribe is javanese i explore javanese style and because javanese and balinese style have a similar root so i can explore balinese style here

and so my work is pretty much javanese and balinese style you should say a prayer before tattooing i came here for the nature actually so i just dont like, stuck at the studio bali tattoos are really developing now it started as a fun project only even the word sounds playful, it is a taco, meet a tattoo, and tuesday so it is a taco and tattoo tuesday people can buy taco, and get a free tattoo

for the design, the clients usually bring their own designs they usually show it from their phones or they print it they scale it and everything but usually only a simple one, because it is only half an hour it is a one session per day, on tuesday, usually it's 1-10 client so basically you buy taco, get free tattoo, on tuesday hello im july, from lady rose tattoo most of my tattoo styles are traditional-american

or you can say oldskool styles and for bali nowadays the growth of tattoo in bali well i can say it's very fast-growing since there is a good tattoo supplies from overseas so people dont have to i dont know and about hygiene and sanitation we have a good improvement

but there are some (tattoo) guides they asking for a sharing-fee which i think, that is not fair for the tattoo artist because sometimes they can ask up to 45% from the tattoo fee and the artist work become not worth it if the guide take that much of a share i think thats the only drawback here sometimes people (the guide) treat the tattoo artist like a coolie so they dont care which tattoo artist

as long as the get their percentage thats not good for the tattoo artist and not good for the tattoo scene in indonesia especially in bali it feels like a seafood restaurant in jimbaran area if they bring a guess, they get a percentage
